References in the Bible for Health and Healing
Pr 3:7-8 - Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and shun evil. This
will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Mk 2:17 - On hearing this, Jesus said to them, It is not the healthy who need a
doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous but the sinners.
Ex 15:26 - He said, If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God
and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and
keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on
the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.
2 Ch 7:13-16 - When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or
command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my
people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and
seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven
and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and
my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and
consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and
my heart will always be there.
Ps 41:3-4 - Blessed is he who has regard for the weak... The Lord will sustain
him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness. I said, O Lord,
have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you.... But, you Oh
Lord, have mercy on me.
Ps 103:2-5 - Praise the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all his benefits - who
forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from
the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires
with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.
Ps 147:1-5 - Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God. How
pleasant and fitting to praise him! The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers
the exiles of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He
determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is the
Lord and mighty in power, his understanding has no limit.
Pr 15:4 - The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue
crushes the spirit.
Isa 53:5 - But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our
iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his
wounds we are healed.
Eze 47:12 - Fruit tress of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their
leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear,
because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for
food and their leaves for healing. (New temple of Jerusalem)
Mal 4:1-2 - Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the
arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble and that day that is coming will
set them on fire, says the Almighty Lord. Not a root or a branch will be left to
them. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise
with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released
from the stall.
Mt 9:20-22 - Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve
years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to
herself, If only I touch his cloak, I will be healed. Jesus turned to her and saw
her. Take heart, daughter, he said, your faith has healed you and the woman
was healed from that moment.
Mt 10:5-8 - These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions, Do not
go among the gentiles or enter any town in Samaria, but go rather to the lost
sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: the kingdom of heaven is
near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons.
Freely you have received, freely give. Do not take along any gold or silver or
copper in your belts. Take no bag for the journey or extra tunic, or sandals, or
staff, for the worker is worth his keep.
Mt 14:36 - All who touched him were healed.
Lk 4:23 - Jesus said to them, Assuredly you will quote this proverb to me:
Physician heal thyself. Do here in your hometown what we have heard that
you did in Capernaum. I tell you the truth, no prophet is accepted in his
Lk 5:17-20- One day as he was teaching, pharisees and teachers of the law,
who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem,
were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the
sick. Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into
the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this
because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat
through the tiles into the middle of the crowd right in front of Jesus. When
Jesus saw their faith, he said, Friend, your sins are forgiven.
Acts 4:10 - then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name
of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who you crucified but whom God raised from the
dead, that this man stands before you healed.
Acts 14:9 - In Lystra, there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from
birth, and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul
looked directly at him and saw that he had faith to be healed and called out,
Stand up on your feet! At that, the man jumped up began to walk.
1 Cor 12:7-11 - No to each one the manifestation of the spirit is given for the
common good. To one there is given wisdom, to another the message of
knowledge by means of the same spirit, to another faith, to another gifts of
healing, to another miraculous powers, to another prophesy, to another
distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of
tongues, and still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work
of the same spirit and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
1 Cor 12:30 - Now you are all the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part
of it... Do all have the gifts of healing?
Ja 5:16 - Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other
so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous man is powerful and
1Pt 2:24 - by his wounds you have been healed.
Rev 22:1-2 - Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear
as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle
of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of
life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the
leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
